Village Park Splash Pad- Kannapolis, NC

The Village Park Splash Pad in Kannapolis, NC was fun. It was fun because you had no choice but to get wet or cool off in the hot sun. Also, it was super duper crowded. My two favorite water stations were the ground gushers and the aqua dome. The ground gusher was a very strong geyser, and the aqua dome was like half a giant sphere. Some people tried to get under it without getting wet that much. I was one of those people!  Ronni was one of the people who just let the water beat on her stomach.

Overall, I thought that it was appropriate for younger children instead of children my age. It was a good day for me to cool off in the hot sun for just a dollar. : )

Village Park Splash Pad: "Cool" place for "little" kids

The Village Park Splash Pad in Kannapolis was fun but small. The water was cold which means it was a good place to go on a hot day. The only negative thing about it was that they didn't have showers to wash your hair or changing rooms to change your clothes.

Overall, I think younger children would enjoy it more than I did.

Happy Birthday To Me, Ronni!

I had a lot of fun on my birthday but the most fun I had was going out to eat lunch with my family at Wink's Barbeque Restaurant. I had a baked potato with bacon and cheese.  It was really good. Then I went to eat ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. Afterwards, I went home and played with my sister a little bit. My sister told me she wanted a snack. So we went to the kitchen to get a snack and my cake was ready. It was cookie dough ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery to be exact. Again it was delicious! That's how Ronni's birthday was. :-)

Juneteenth Celebration- Salisbury, NC

Juneteenth Celebration was held in Salisbury, NC today at Kelsey-Scott Park. The event consisted of speakers, gospel choirs, vendors and a large crowd of attendees. All gathered in commemoration of the time after the Civil War that the last slaves learned they had been emancipated by Abraham Lincoln.

Kelsey-Scott Park is well maintained
and offers plenty of room for events like this.
The gospel music, on a professional sound system,
was very soul stirring.
People were seen all over the park moving to the music
and even singing along.

Admission was free. We spent as much or as little as we wanted since all we paid for was what we choose to buy. Vendors offered a variety of products from clothing, to accessories to food. My girls and I were especially attracted to the customized jewelery wares from Sunshine Custom Accessories. Anita, who designs the jewelry and offers classes, was as friendly as she was creative. She created her pieces and conversed with us without missing a beat. We're looking forward to having a jewelry-making party with my girls and their friends. (Read more about the products for sale soon.) The best thing about the event might've been the food available. Our favorite was the dipped chicken sold by a local favorite known as, "Jerry." My husband rambled on and on about his homemade sauce so passionately that Jerry gave him his phone number and told him to call for some when my husband is in his neighborhood. Oh how I love southerners! (Read more about food soon.)

Overall, this Juneteenth Celebration was a thumbs up for our family. It was well-organized in a clean, safe environment. The entertainment and vendors were appropriate; although a few really stood out in a good way for their customer service and uniqueness. Our family got plenty of exercise, socialized with interesting people and were exposed to a different aspect of the American culture.

Food Vendor Review- Juneteenth Celebration

When I went to the Juneteenth Celebration at Kelsey-Scott Park, I tasted most of the food there. Here is what I thought of the food from my unique point of view. I thought that the turkey leg looked huge but I personally thought that it was salty and flavorful. Jerry's Chicken was awesome and tangy, too, and I am not a big chicken fan unless it is Jerry's Chicken. My favorite out of all these wonderful things were the funnel cakes and of course, they were sweet. Plus an added bonus for me was they had so many different flavors, from apple and strawberry custards to just regular cinnamon and powdered sugar or both. If you do get funnel cakes, do not do what I did and eat all yours at once or you will feel sick to your stomach. So next time you hear about the Juneteenth Celebration think of their exquisite food.
